It’s the holiday season! Bringing some traditions that I grew up with as a child to my own child is a value I look forward to. My First Hanukkah is a book that I have memories of my own mom reading to me growing up. In fact, the book pictured is an older version from my own childhood that my mom held on to. The one linked above is the same author but a more recent version.  The book goes through the simple concepts of Hanukkah with plenty of brightly colored pictures to look at. From the menorah to dreidels, to latkes, to the story of Hanukkah,  it’s appropriate for a wide range of ages. Depending on how exposed a child (or adult) is to Hanukkah it’s a perfect book for someone who is new to the concepts, or a book perfect to pull out of this time of year. Rory liked looking at the bright-colored photos and hearing Grandma read the story to him. Whether you celebrate Hanukkah in your home or not, exposing the future generation of children to all religions, cultures, ideas, and beliefs is an important value.  Consider putting this book on a bookshelf in your home. Happy Holidays!
